Any place that has a witty name is automatically in my good books. Berry’d Alive according to me is the best VFM (Value for money) dessert place in town. Any patisserie can serve up an overload of chocolate that will draw people in, Berry’d Alive’s best desserts are the non chocolate ones.
The decor is colourful ,quirky and very cheerful. The minute you walk in, you see a wall of post its with feedback from customers,so if you are confused on what to order, take a look there. Better yet, ask whoever is at the counter, I have spoken to all the 3 people who run the place and they are incredibly friendly and always give you the best recommendations!
The first time I visited Berry’d Alive, I ordered the
Blackberry Cheesecake and a cup of
Hazelnut flavoured coffee.
The cheesecake is rich, creamy and well balanced with some
spices and is perfect for those who do not like overly sweet desserts.
Hazelnut Crème Pot is best described by a friend of mine as “Love
on a plate”. It is made up of a nutty caramel cup filled with a thick chocolate ganache topped off with the lightest, most flavorful chocolate mousse.
Salted Caramel Mousse is perfect for when you are feeling
indulgent. The perfectly balanced mousse comes in an edible chocolate cup (how
awesome is that!) Kudos to you if you can gobble up the mousse and the cup.
If you have ever wished to be Nigella’s neighbour (face it,
we all have at some point), the Lychee Pavlova is just for you! It is a light
yet chewy concoction made of egg whites and sugar, topped off with oodles of
cream and fresh lychees.
Deep fried chocolate goodness is all I can say to describe
the Chocolate Wontons which also has a piece of banana wrapped inside. It is
the perfect dessert on a cold day.
My least favourite dish here is the Strawberry Mango
Verrine, this is just because I do not like lots of cream in anything! But if
you are a fan of creamy desserts, go for it! Plus points for the combination of
strawberry and mango since we generally find the strawberry and banana flavours clubbed together.
With all the eating out I do, a sore throat is a recurring
problem. The Spiced Banana Sundae hits the spot (read-back of throat) at times
like these. In the first bite it seems like a normal caramel and banana sundae,
a few seconds into the second bite, the spice hits you in the back of your
throat and feels absolutely wonderful! The cold and creamy vanilla ice cream
along with the spices takes your taste buds on a roller coaster.
If you are in the mood for a classic chocolate end to your
meal, get the Double Chocolate Brownie which is a warm brownie sandwich with
chocolate mousse in the middle doused with chocolate sauce.
Blueberry Almond Crumble-the name pretty much describes the
dish. Reminds me of a gudbud in someways, dig your spoon to the bottom and then
pull up to get all the layers- cream, ice cream, blueberry and almond.
My absolute favourite at this place is the Kiwi and Lemon Nest.
Soft chewy meringue filled with actual kiwi fruit and lemon
curd, topped off with a kiwi jelly(not sure if that’s what its called). This
dish is the perfect balance of sweet and sour. If you have had a heavy meal and
want a light dessert, THIS is it!
All the desserts here are within the range Rs.115-160, they
accept credit cards and you can park your car/bike right outside.
Rev Recommends: Hazelnut Crème Pot, Kiwi and Lemon nest, Spiced Banana Sundae.
